Chris Moyles Gets a Truckside Boost From RoadAds...
A sudden need for billboards in the North-East was proving to be a huge nightmare for controversial Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Chris Moyles.
The relaunched breakfast show was being promoted across the UK on billboards, with the legend: "Chris Moyles, Saviour of Breakfast Radio." But their plans suffered from a distinct lack of sites in the North-East and especially Newcastle. And scheduled to broadcast on the 30th January, live from the heart of Newcastle, Chris turned to RoadAds for help.
Never mind the short deadlines, or the whole country being paralyzed by snowfall - RoadAds came through.
Working closely with Operations Director Stefan Hohmann, Moylsie's sidekick Aled Jones took to the road (snow and all!!) in a 45ft truck, with the superhero image on both sides. The truck's progress through Toon Town was integral to the show, with frequent on-air contact between Chris and Aled, causing a big stir in places such as St James' Park, the University campus and Newcastle Brown Brewery - the Tyneside rush-hour had never seen anything like it.
Chris Moyles and his entire production team thought it a huge success and this pioneering truck concept was repeated throughout the country for ensuing live city broadcasts during the spring.
Stefan Hohmann says: "RoadAds were delighted to have worked with the BBC to create yet another industry first."
